How to read this guide

BuildPilot separates official baseline requirements from our design target. A minimum or recommended spec does not guarantee the high-refresh target in this article, and our Builder estimates are not a substitute for a controlled benchmark.

Start with the official baseline—not the target

Riot’s official high-end 144+ FPS tier lists an i5-9400F or Ryzen 5 2600X and a GTX 1050 Ti / Radeon R7 370 / Intel Arc A310.

That official 144+ tier demonstrates how modest the GPU floor can be, but 240 Hz still deserves a modern CPU and balanced platform.

Official requirements tell you where support begins. They do not promise 1080p at 240 Hz; BuildPilot treats that as a separate performance-design target.

What matters most for this target

  • CPU first: protect the main thread and high-refresh frame delivery.
  • Do not overbuy the GPU: excess graphics budget often has weak returns at competitive settings.
  • Memory configuration: sensible dual-channel memory and platform tuning help the CPU do its job.
  • Low-latency peripherals: once the PC is comfortably above target, input and display behavior become part of the experience.

Settings change the bottleneck

Competitive settings make the GPU’s job easier. If the goal is stable 240 Hz rather than visual spectacle, spend should move toward the CPU/platform before an oversized graphics card.

That is why a recommendation should be tied to your intended preset rather than a generic “best GPU” label. The same monitor can produce two different sensible builds for competitive and image-quality players.

The BuildPilot decision

Build around a strong CPU tier, then choose a GPU that covers VALORANT plus the other games you actually play. A “VALORANT-only” GPU choice can look very different from a mixed-library PC.

Use the preset to open the Builder, then enter your real budget. Compare the maximum-FPS profile with the balanced and upgradeable profiles instead of assuming the most expensive option is automatically the best.

What we will not promise

Game patches, maps, background software, drivers, memory configuration and thermal limits can all move performance. BuildPilot uses modeled estimates and component data; it does not claim a fixed FPS guarantee for every scene or patch.
