How to read this guide

BuildPilot separates official baseline requirements from our design target. A minimum or recommended spec does not guarantee the high-refresh target in this article, and our Builder estimates are not a substitute for a controlled benchmark.

Start with the official baseline—not the target

Riot’s official high-end 144+ FPS tier is far below modern enthusiast hardware, which confirms that VALORANT is not fundamentally a heavy GPU workload.

The jump from 144+ to a design target of 360 Hz is not linear and is not guaranteed by any official tier.

Official requirements tell you where support begins. They do not promise 1440p at 360 Hz; BuildPilot treats that as a separate performance-design target.

What matters most for this target

  • Top-end CPU consistency: the target is extremely frame-time sensitive.
  • Enough—not absurd—GPU: 1440p raises graphics load, but a flagship GPU is not automatically justified.
  • Thermal stability: sustained boost behavior matters when the CPU is continuously pushed.
  • Monitor reality: 360 Hz only matters if the display and settings are actually configured to use it.

Settings change the bottleneck

A higher resolution makes the GPU more relevant than in a 1080p esports build, but low visual settings can still keep the system CPU-limited.

That is why a recommendation should be tied to your intended preset rather than a generic “best GPU” label. The same monitor can produce two different sensible builds for competitive and image-quality players.

Game patches, maps, background software, drivers, memory configuration and thermal limits can all move performance. BuildPilot uses modeled estimates and component data; it does not claim a fixed FPS guarantee for every scene or patch.
