The first decision: price, not branding
If the RX 9070 XT sits materially above the RTX 5070 in your region, you are comparing performance tiers and price tiers at the same time. BuildPilot therefore treats current price as part of the GPU identity rather than assuming MSRP parity.
VRAM and workload fit
The 16GB RX 9070 XT offers more local graphics memory than the 12GB RTX 5070. That can matter for heavy textures, high resolutions and future headroom, but VRAM capacity alone does not determine total gaming performance.
Feature ecosystem
NVIDIA’s current 50-series stack emphasizes DLSS 4, Reflex 2 and Blackwell RT/AI features. AMD’s RDNA 4 stack emphasizes FSR, AFMF, Anti-Lag and the broader Radeon software ecosystem. Choose based on the games and features you actually use.
Power and system cost
A GPU decision can change PSU sizing, case airflow and total build cost. The cheaper card can become the more expensive system if it forces unrelated upgrades—or vice versa.
