BuildPilot separates official baseline requirements from our design target. A minimum or recommended spec does not guarantee the high-refresh target in this article, and our Builder estimates are not a substitute for a controlled benchmark.
Start with the official baseline—not the target
Activision’s current recommended Warzone baseline lists a GTX 1060 / RX 580-class GPU, Core i5-6600K / i7-4770 or Ryzen 5 1400, 12GB RAM and 125GB storage.
A modern 1440p 165 Hz design target is substantially above that baseline, so the official list is a floor—not our parts list.
What matters most for this target
- GPU throughput: 1440p makes graphics performance central.
- CPU headroom: protect high-refresh lows and frame-time consistency.
- Memory: avoid weak channel or capacity configurations that bottleneck the platform.
- PSU margin: size for realistic GPU transients and future upgrades.
Settings change the bottleneck
Competitive settings reduce GPU load and can expose the CPU; higher visual settings push the system back toward the GPU. The “right” split depends on what you actually enable in-game.
That is why a recommendation should be tied to your intended preset rather than a generic “best GPU” label. The same monitor can produce two different sensible builds for competitive and image-quality players.
The BuildPilot decision
For most buyers, start with GPU capability for 1440p, then make sure the CPU can feed the chosen refresh target without consuming a disproportionate share of the budget.
Use the preset to open the Builder, then enter your real budget. Compare the maximum-FPS profile with the balanced and upgradeable profiles instead of assuming the most expensive option is automatically the best.
What we will not promise
Game patches, maps, background software, drivers, memory configuration and thermal limits can all move performance. BuildPilot uses modeled estimates and component data; it does not claim a fixed FPS guarantee for every scene or patch.
Sources & verification
We use first-party sources for hard specifications whenever possible. The decision guidance around them is BuildPilot editorial analysis, not a claim of hands-on lab benchmarking.
