BuildPilot separates official baseline requirements from our design target. A minimum or recommended spec does not guarantee the high-refresh target in this article, and our Builder estimates are not a substitute for a controlled benchmark.
Start with the official baseline—not the target
ARC Raiders’ official recommended tier targets High settings at 1440p 60 FPS with RTX 2070 / RX 5700 XT / Arc B570-class graphics; the Epic tier targets 1440p 90 FPS and names RTX 4070 Ti / RTX 5070 or RX 7900 XTX-class GPUs.
A 165 Hz target is therefore above even the published Epic 90 FPS target and should be treated as an ambitious high-refresh design goal, not an official promise.
What matters most for this target
- GPU performance: official 1440p targets already scale significantly with preset.
- CPU headroom: the Epic tier also moves to i7-9700K / Ryzen 7 3700X-class CPUs.
- Settings: Epic visual quality and 165 Hz simultaneously are a much harder brief than competitive/high settings.
- Expectation management: 165 Hz monitor ownership does not mean every scene must render at 165 FPS.
Settings change the bottleneck
Use resolution scaling and preset choice as part of the performance plan instead of treating them as an afterthought.
That is why a recommendation should be tied to your intended preset rather than a generic “best GPU” label. The same monitor can produce two different sensible builds for competitive and image-quality players.
The BuildPilot decision
BuildPilot should first decide whether you value Epic quality or high refresh more. If high refresh wins, a lower visual preset may deliver a much better total experience than simply buying the next GPU tier.
Use the preset to open the Builder, then enter your real budget. Compare the maximum-FPS profile with the balanced and upgradeable profiles instead of assuming the most expensive option is automatically the best.
What we will not promise
Game patches, maps, background software, drivers, memory configuration and thermal limits can all move performance. BuildPilot uses modeled estimates and component data; it does not claim a fixed FPS guarantee for every scene or patch.
Sources & verification
We use first-party sources for hard specifications whenever possible. The decision guidance around them is BuildPilot editorial analysis, not a claim of hands-on lab benchmarking.
